"In july 2007, I had the privilege of visiting South Dakota for a month. At the time my best friend was living in Rapid City. I got the chance to visit all the great sites. Since returning home, I have been waiting for the chance to return. While in Rapid City, I got the chance to visit Bear Country. When telling friends & family about it, the best way I could describe the experience, it was like a drive thru zoo, only better."

""We visited in May 2001 on our way to Mt Rushmore. Being from Australia where we don't have bears they were the main attraction for us. But everything was wonderful. We just never expected to see the bear nursery. OMG, I stood in the sun for 1.5 hrs and just couldn't tear myself away. They are the cutest little balls of fur I have ever seen. We have some amazing animals here and they too are cute, Koalas, Wombats, but I guess anything that is different and you don't see becomes really special. I will always remember our visit to Bear Country USA as something really special. I could come back just to be enthralled by the cubs that lift your spirits and can't help but put a huge smile on your face and leave you feeling so much better than when you arrived. Well done ... I just wish you opened earlier in the year.""

"20 years ago my parents decided to visit South Dakota. My mother insisted we go to Bear Country. Out of all my childhood memories I must say Bear Country is by far one of the most memorable! I vividly remember the one bear who walked up to the back of our car. Out of all my friends I can honestly claim to be the only one within a few feet of a bear! Now that I am older, married with kids of my own. I anticipate the day I can bring my family to Bear Country USA."

""Being a native of South Dakota, I love to accentuate the great things to do while visiting the state. This fall, I'm bringing my girlfriend with me, and this is one of the ""must do"" activities. If you love wildlife, and exotic animals, may I make a suggestion? Take a day and visit Bear Country and the Reptile Gardens (they're just a couple miles apart) and you'll be blown away that this area has such world class displays of animals! Don't miss it, skip Mt. Rushmore instead! (just kidding!)""

""You don't have to be a tourist to enjoy Bear Country USA! I commute past the park everyday, and everyday I look for the baby bears in the trees and giggle when I see them stacked up! This year, I became a ""Season Pass Holder"" and it's the best gift I've given myself. When I'm having a bad day, I stop and go through the park - it's amazing how uplifting the visits can be. I have also taken advantage of the ""Pass"" and treated all of my out-of-town visitors to tours through the park - it's a highlight for everyone's visit, and I have to mention all the perks of being a season pass holder - special events just for us - getting to play with the baby bears - winning animal art - I truely feel like I am a member of the Bear Country USA family. If you are from this area - think about become a ""season pass holder"" - you won't regret it. Thanks Bear Country USA!""

"My family and I visited back in the late 70s during one of our east to west coast military moves. To this day I still tell the story about the Bison crossing the road.. it was so neat to see the large male Bison stop traffic so all of the herd could cross behind him.. it was so neat and a memory I have treasured to this day!"

"My husband and I went to Bear Country U.S.A. while we were staying in Rapid City for our honeymoon. It was great! The animals all looked very peaceful. ""I have to tell you that your zoo was amazing! We were passing through SD on our way to the Grand Canyon. We decided to go through although my husband thought it was going to be a waste BUT we had our dog with us and it was something we could do together! WELL his words were this beats the bronx zoo anyday! The animals look wonderful and it was so clean! We Loved the "kitten" Pumba I believe his name was! "We visited in the fall of 2001 and my husband and I distinctly remember hearing a man speak from what sounded like a bullhorn saying "sir, please keep all body parts in the car and roll your window up". It was directed to my father, and of course the man had to repeat it several times. We didn't dare say anything at the time but we sure laugh about it often. It was very refreshing to see animals in a more natural habitat and able to roam more freely rather than caged up in a zoo. Never seen healthier looking bears!"

"Bear country was just wonderful we went around 10 or 11 a.m at feeding time and seen almost all animals active. Watching bears sworm around the cars I don't think my 3 kids have ever had such a great time at one place! Seeing bears like this is way more of a natural way then viewing them in a zoo. ""The Scouts had a great time at Bear Country USA. They have never been that close to bears before. The Scouts I had with me were the older Scouts that have backpacked in Yellowstone Nation Park, and Philmont, New Mexico and have been on canoe trips to Boundary Water going deep into Canada. At night they have always had to put their food in bear bags and hang them high in the trees so the bears could not get at it. In all those trips we never had a bear in our camp. After seeing your bears, close up, and see how big they were, one of the Scouts in the back seat of my pickup said ""Holy cow, now I know why we hung the bear bags"". After we drove through the Wildlife Park we stopped at the snack bar and walked through the exibits. The hardest part of the day was getting the Scouts away from the baby bears and back in the cars. (You have a great wildlife Park) We spent a week in the Black Hills, the main reason for the trip was to bike the Mickelson Trail, but the highlight of the trip was Bear Country U.S.A.. That night, after we ate, while sitting around the camp fire we drank a Pepsi Cola toast to you and your Wildlife Park. On behalf of all the Scouts and Adults from Troop 554 Littleton, Colorado, I want to thank you very much for allowing us to visit your Wildlife Park.
